STUDENT FALL SHOW COMING UP SOON

1 Sep

We are gearing up for our fall student production.  As soon as we get the date from Kankakee Junior High School, we’ll be able to hit the road runnin’ and get all the information out to the interested parties.  Our play will be “Fairytale Courtroom Dramas” where the Big Bad Wolf and the Wicked Witch are put on trial.  And, of course, all their victims come forward to testify against them.  How many story characters can you think of who go to battle with the Big Bad Wolf or the Wicked Witch?

We have requested performing dates of November 11, 12, and 13, 2011.  If KJH is available for those dates, we have our first rehearsal on Tuesday, September 20th at Maternity BVM Grade School at 324 Marsiles, Bourbonnais, Illinois 60914.  Our rehearsal times will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Our first rehearsal will be PICTURE DAY.  Come prepared to have a group picture taken for our marketing efforts for the show.

Keep checking the web site for up-to-date information.

Only 5 days until Possibility U!

11 Apr

After 7 weeks of diligent preparation, our spring musical Possibility U is set to premiere this Friday,  April 15th at 7:00 pm! This week marks the first time we’ll be rehearsing on stage at the Kankakee Junior High, and our actors cannot be more excited! Check back here to see pictures from our final week of rehearsal. Many thanks to all actors, acting buddies, costume and set designers, choreographers and of course, our director, for making the show “Possible.” Come by to any of our 3 performances this weekend and you surely won’t be disappointed!

Also, if you didn’t happen to see the article about Possibility U and Easy Street Theater in Saturday’s issue of The Daily Journal, GO GET YOURSELF A COPY! It was a fantastic article and we owe serious gratitude to writer Phil Angelo and photographer Mike Voss for the great publicity. Here is a link to an excerpt of the  story, complete with the pictures that were published alongside it.

POSSIBILITY U.

24 Mar

Our spring show is up and running.  Rehearsals are going great.  Actors and buddies (and the director) are having a fantastic time.  It’s just like being back in college again.  In fact, it IS college, at least for our actors.  “Possibility U.” sends our actors through high school graduation, college, college graduation and into a career of their choice.  The script was written by Peter Worth with the help of our actors who submitted their career wishes.  Pete used these career choices to develope the characters that are played by the actors.

The audience will see the following careers in the final act of the play:  firefighters, chefs, music producer, day care worker, movie star, policemen, nurse, paramedic, judge, artist, professional bowler, sportswriter, newscaster, beautician, veterinarian, rapper, and restaurant owner.

”Possibility U.” is a musical with songs that enhance the excitement of someone eager to go to college and find a successful career.  “I Can’t Wait”, “We Learn”, “Champions”, “Forever Friends”, and “Yakkin’ On The Cell Phone”.  All songs are used with permission by Plank Road Publishing Company.

Take a look at the album and you’ll see just how big a production (and blast) it was. And just recently, the classic fairy tale “The Frog Prince” was adapted by our children’s acting group into a hilarious yet touching performance. Check back here soon for further updates as the 2011 installment of Easy Street Theater gets underway!
